Event type:
Local Meeting
Start date:
Saturday, 12 December, 2015 - 00:00 to Sunday, 13 December, 2015 - 00:00

Don't despair red ribs, yes 2015 is nearly over but the flying will continue, when this will happen with a sensible few days of flying weather is still a mystery, there was the cheeky flying window at beachy head on monday ,but like most of us ,even i could not make that last minute trip out.
So,all those thinking what will this weekend brings, not looking good, keep an eye on the weather ,just in case things change.
If you think you have had enough of waiting to fly why not book a winters flying trip abroad ,there are many established folk in the club that run various trips all over the world, just do some research,or post a post on the clubs page and you will get plenty of help.
Hope to see some of you this weekend at the clubs Xmas dinner and awards night, see simons post about that event.
Till Fridays regular update, bye for now.

RRC weekend 28th - 29th Nov

Event type:
Local Meeting
Start date:
Saturday, 28 November, 2015 - 00:00

For those that chose not to venture onto the hills on sunday ,heres the story at devils dyke.
The high gusty winds that were forecast did not show till mid afternoon ,as a low inversion ,kept us waiting for a couple of hours till it finely lifted to give us at times a slightly turbulent afternoons flying. A trip alone the ridge was also well frequented by Pgs and the hangies in the variable wind.It was a very chilling wind, but the 30 or so PGs and a dozen hangies made the most of this odd ,but welcoming sunny afternoons flying till around 3.30 when i called it a day in the strong conditions.
So what about next weekend, looking at forecasts ,it could be blown out,its the same old story ,wait till the fri nights post for the updates.
Dont forget the clubs thursdays monthly induction ,followed by the first lectures for the pilots exam. see other postings.
Thats all for now.

.ps ,thursday could be flyable.

Local Meeting
Start date:
Saturday, 21 November, 2015 - 00:00 to Sunday, 22 November, 2015 - 00:00

No words of optimism ,or words of wisdom ,can help with the forecast and its outcome, for this weekend and leading up to it,this must have been ,unless others know better ,the longest period of fly-less weather on our sits in recent years.

RRC weekend 14th - 15th Nov

Local Meeting

Saturday, 14 November, 2015 - 00:00 to Sunday, 15 November, 2015 - 00:00

It will keep blowing , and continuing through the weekend ,and just to get peeps more frustrated .....beyond as far as the forecasts shows.
i will post fri night with any changes to the weekend, but its fair to say it looks off again.
phil ... :(

ps.....thurs might get a look in at newhaven for a coastal run to Brighton...watch this space if you wanna join me,its not a red ribs day ,but willing to guide/help you on route.i will be choosy as its not for the really low air time pilots as winds on launch will be strong and this is why we all have to ground handle as much as flying, saying that you may love flying the cliffs in front of launch area ...will update for this weds eve ,,9pm ish.

RRC weekend 7th - 8th Nov

Event type:
Local Meeting
Start date:
Saturday, 7 November, 2015 - 00:00 to Sunday, 8 November, 2015 - 00:00

After two weekends at beachy head with various skills needed to stay airbourne, most improved on their slope and top landings, and we must not forget that scratching skill that takes us all the way too the bottom at times, but the walk up is always better then drooping your wing over those pesky big bushes,as some flying folk just didnt leave a margin for turning away from the hill ,when things get a little less buoyant,Good to see no ribs in those trees . :)
So where will we ,if we do ,be flying this weekend,...as the rest of this week looks a bit duck weather,i hope things get better for the weekend...im no wiser then any one else till nearer fri night, when i will do my studying and help us make the decision for some air action....and hopefully it will still be mild for this time off year ..(the shorts stay on)
untill fri night....when i update this post ,feel free to add what ever you feels like ,weather predictions and banter always welcome.
phil.....

RRC weekend 31st -1st nov

Event type:
Local Meeting
Start date:
Saturday, 31 October, 2015 - 12:00 to Sunday, 1 November, 2015 - 12:00

The parawaiters with the red ribs at Peachy Beachy on Sunday, got rewarded with a great sunset flight with good height to cruise well over the sea...to say the ribs were well happy would be an understatement.....
Now on too this weekend...
the week leading up to it looks rubbish, looks like it will settle down for the weekend...No more to say till fri night and that last minute call to arms....
But till then ,what about going to thurs nites club meeting after induction (for the newbies) ,and listen to mr XC himself ,Carlo from flybubble ,tell us his stories ,giving insight and nuggets of knowledge that any XC wannabie will welcome.... not too be missed,as he rarely gets the time to do this..what a gent.
See you all thurs night or on the hill :)

Coaching evening - This seasons XC - given by Carlo Borsattino

Event type:
Local Meeting
Start date:
Thursday, 29 October, 2015 - 19:00 to 22:00

7.30 till 8 pm will be induction for new pilots.

8pm till it finishes - Carlo and XC ( exact topic to be finalised)

This has been a great year for XC for the Southern Club, from novice pilots getting their first taste of XC, the Southern Club winning the BCC through to the veteran pilots taking the Southern club to the top of the UK league. So what better way to end the season than a talk from one of the UKs top XC pilots who has logged some sensational 200K plus flights on a sports class wing.

As usual this will be at the Glynde Social club.

RRC weekend 24th -25th oct

Event type:
Local Meeting
Start date:
Saturday, 24 October, 2015 - 14:00 to Sunday, 25 October, 2015 - 12:00

It was a testing day for the newbies on sunday as launching was top end for some, but with persistence and a little help from other ground dwellers, all got in the air and had a great time, with a little thermic activity to spice things up for some little 360 action...and Scott D ,put on a great show ,right in front of take off and with all watching ,of how not to fly a hang glider slowly,(one lucky lucky man ).
On too next weekend....Oh dear, tricky one to call this far ahead ,but it don't look too promising at the moment...but as we all know ,the forecasts always change ,and lets hope it swings in our favor to get some airborne happiness.
Will post again fri night around 6-7pm.
bye for know...
