Flight details: | On Saturday I first got the BCC for the day activated by bringing the number of clubs present up to quorum, and then promptly got it de-activated by agreeing that it was too windy to safely hold a competition - as the only SHGC member present, I was by default the club's rep on the safety committee! A decision rapidly justified when in the following half hour a very experienced pilot had a 40% collapse immediately on take off and 2 of the other (also well experienced)3 pilots who took off did so only with considerable difficulty.
Anyway, it was a useful recce for Sunday when the SHGC turned up in force. Conditions were very similar except that the wind was much lighter, and there was no hesitation in declaring the window open pretty much all day. Initially I really struggled to avoid going down, and it took me a long time to get height and to head off down wind, but in the end I managed to get going. The views were magnificent in the clear air. Isn't Wales pretty? Anyway, least said about the landing the better, but many thanks to Catherine and to Garry, for the organisation, the invitation, the retrieve and the camp site hospitality. |
