First flying day was Monday - it was an easy windy launch - I got off ok and established quickly but I found it hard to get up - I kept at it and tried and tried for over 2 hours but it became frustrating - I then wound off height to make and approach to top land and hit a boomer - it took me to base where I turned and went - this was ok - exciting but a mistake - I should have stayed at base long enough at least to know where I was going - it was a downwind task and I was in a great position to start... I then pulled on to glide which was again wrong - I should have pushed out and floated using the wind to take me - this would have got me a lot further and given me a better chance at finding the next thermal, I found a cloud over Wenlock Ridge but it was giving nothing, my landing and recovery is another story as I had forgotten my phone, left it in the retrieve car... duh !!

later

This was the second light wind day - the day before had also been light but only the front row of gliders got off in the only thermic activity that day, I was too far back and also maybe too cautious...

On this last day the briefing had been indecisive, partly as there is no internet at HQ, so no forecasts, this indecision left me not feeling happy initially, there were lots of negative comments floating about launch and in the briefings... however you retreat a little inside yourself at these things so I got ready anyway and waited.

The day started to feel better and I got dressed and clipped in - my launch was good and established quickly in lift however the thermal was much busier - I got a bit distracted by missing people and fell out - later I had a chance to go with Ollie but chose not to as I felt we were not high enough, inside me I felt I wanted to get to base first before I went however he was on radio with me and we could have tried together to find something - at least then I would have tried... not long after that
