Flight details
Title: Short-cut home (or halfway to the reservoir)
Site:Devils Dyke
Pilot:Mark Rubinstein
Date of flight:26th August 2013
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
Having watched Vincent being hoovered 1,000' into a black monster (I thought I heard him cry "I'm going to the Dyke" but apparently it was "I'm going to die!") I was a little nervous of flying at Bo Peep today. Just not quite nervous enough not to take off once the black monster had passed.

On my second flight I started to get lifted so decided to point forward and see how far I could go. Without turning I continued to rise for quite a way; at one point I even thought the reservoir might be achievable. The first bit of lift that I turned in was near Alciston but I was still nervous from having witnessed Vincent so bottled out and decided to just cross the A27(which I had never done). Approaching the road it became very slow going with heavy sink and almost now forward progression. As soon as I had clearly crossed the road I turned and landed in a nice horse-free field (not wanting to upset the residents). By then plenty of paragliders seemed to be enjoying calmer air but I was happy to be on the ground and have to have at least reached the main road.

Next time the reservoir.
