| Flight details: | Nepal � it did happen to me again despite my quite firm decision �never ever come here again� after last year visit. Time passed and all bad things were forgotten plus March promised a higher base and further flying... in exchange of a bit stronger conditions of course.
The adventure had started a bit earlier than was expected. 20 minutes before boarding should start in Abu-Dhabi I receive message through facebook from my friends: �You probably will not come today to Kathmandu as we have managed to occupy whole runway here� accompanied by pictures of crashed plane in foggy morning light from distressingly close distance. Four friends of mine were on this plane which Turkish pilots managed to gently smash on Kathmandu airport runway. They needed two attempts to achieve it and we were stuck in Abu-Dhabi at courtesy of Ethihad for a time being. Next 5 days while nepali people tried to move crashed plane away from runway we were forced to enjoy Emirates and thanks for Ethihad all was organised at top level.
Finally we arrived to Pokhara and prepared ourselves for first flying day. The result of day one you may see below. White 7000m mountains were just at next transition, but it would be too much for day 1. People get ~5000m that day... The direct glide from final point to the landing at lake side was magnificent. The sad part was I didn't take camera with me as intention was to just feel an air after 3 months without flying.
Unfortunately it was last day of 5 in the row with such high base and �easy� access to white stuff. Rest of the trip delivered very good flying with base hiking over 3000m. However now we knew how it could be and while making all these small and big circles around mountains we always look a bit north towards magnificent white giants.
This time i have to say it again � �Never ever i will come back to Nepal�. On the ground it keeps to be shithole without any chance to change. However �no change� doesn't related to prices of living the |
