Flight details:
G & I arrived at Bo Peep around 11ish, at which point there was only one person in the air, soaring just above ridge height. As usual I started nattering, and only realised things were picking up when Pete said "Where's Garry going?", and pointed to G disappearing a few hundred feet above us. I'd not picked my moment well, and after some faffing and incredible backwards flying (thanks for the push Chris!) launched into an uninspiring ridge-soar-type-of-cycle. Not for long however, as I spotted a seagull out front and went for it. A few minutes later climbing with Crispin and Jess, and I was at base. After some more faffing of the "what now?" variety I started to head west. I topped up along the route to Beddingham but then got low. I spent a good 15 mins scrabbling for something that would give me enough height to get to the ridges behind Lewes and Kingston, whilst waving to the Fly Sussex crew who were teaching. Happily the spots that worked the day before - when I was coming from the Dyke with Pete - worked again. That said some of the thermals were very jelly like and I kept loosing them. Perseverance paid off - well sort of - as I got a good solid climb to base just south of the A27 between Kingston and Falmer, but knew that I had to push north to avoid Brighton. Unfortunately this move grounded me and I went from around 2500 to the ground in about 1 km and 5 mins! Still, an unexpected jaunt, with plenty of public transport options to get me home.
