| Flight details: | Unexpected climb out from Dyke!
Thought I'd made a bad decision to take off but persevered with what turned out to be really nice smooth climb, Greg was with me and we whooped for joy!
I'd spotted a bird over at Newtimber and kept my eye on it while I climbed out and had already thought I wasn't going back to the hill!
Nothing at Newtimber when I got there so carried on and flew over the chalk pit, nothing and then onto to Clayton, I was gliding to an obvious looking cloud! Jess and Hugh were super low working some bits and nearby between Clayton and Ditchling village I got back to base. Hugh was still very impressively hanging on very low down.
I think at Uckfield I spotted a glider, which I now know was Mark catching up Hugh - amazing! They flew behind me together as I carried on alone taking a different route.
Think I climbed out south of Heathfield in a very similar spot to my flight on Sunday 17th, again thinking I was going to land.
Felt like I had to make some very difficult decisions with the sky ahead and well I think I chose a good route!
Mark & Hugh had over taken me, I kept an eye on them but they were much further inland than me. eventually meeting back up near Tenterden. They carried on past Ashford and I went for my goal and a safe landing before the wind could catch me!
Lovely landing and packing away on Great Chart cricket green - perfect!
A man walking his dog was so surprised to see me 'drop out of the sky from nowhere' he took me straight to Ashford Station, so was on the platform having a sandwich after 45 minutes of landing, train home to Lewes and home for coffee with Carlo.
Thank you Devils Dyke for delivering :~) |
