Flight details: | Spent the night at the Dyke, but by 0515 Wendy was already confirming that Caburn was the place to be. Got up the hill at 0700. By 0800 short hops were possible. By 0845 or so it was thermic. The clouds were big and juicy and solid, not like the wind-shredded ones later. But I couldn't get to them! I got one climb out front to over 1000ft ASL, but lost all the height on the way back. The next one took me to a similar height but well behind the hill. I knew I was too low, but went with it anyway. Result: landed in the llama field, the one on the other side of the road from the Airworks llama field. Despite the title, there was no drama; the llamas were not bothered. Thanks to Brian Wignall for a lift back to the hill for another go... and since there appears to be no limit on how short a flight can be, I think I'll be shameless and put this in the league. |
