Flight details: | After a sweaty walk back up the slope following an out of cycle launch, I waited a fair while before a second attempt (by which time most had left the hill); trying to make sense of the air, and the ever switching windsocks. Finally back in the air, I chased a thermal low over the back never getting a strong/steady climb before passing over Church Stretton and into the valley beyond, where a visit to cloudbase was granted. Below 2600, it was all fairly broken; but above that, there were less thermals but with well formed cores and good climb rates; there was not much blue between the dark bottomed Cu's. On glide it was easy to loose height searching in 0's and 1's for not a lot, then came another good climb, and a second trip to base then managing a cloud hop that afforded me a glide to Bridgenorth. I managed to find a broken climb over the town, but couldn't stay with it; and as the drift was heading directly to Halfpenny-Green airspace so I headed off on a deathglide for a personal best. No cold beer, but a sweaty walk till I could find mobile reception and Nick came out on retrieve. Thanks Nick! Beer was later with the Hog-roast! |
