Flight details
Title: Low saves all the way to the races.
Site:Bo Peep
Pilot:Stephen Purdie
Date of flight:23rd March 2011
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
I had a volunteer driver so there was no question of not going XC today.

Things got pretty scratchy after leaving the good climb near Alciston. I encountered sink at Itford and very nearly landed. The sink relented about level with the power lines and I took a weak climb. Unfortunately this was drifting south west and with such a low rate of climb that I had little chance to get to Swanborough and consequently couldn't get north of Brighton. I landed at the race course rather than risking taking the climb I had low over Brighton.

A very minor xc really, but at least that's 2011's duck broken, now the cracks can get on with the task of beating those northerners!

Lewis John22nd Mar 11:46: The season begins! Feels like Spring has truly sprung, with the arrival of the Equinox. What a nice thing to do (flying to the races) on a day like today. My compliments. Lew
David Williamson23rd Mar 02:29: We were watching you from Swanborough, when you were bumbling along at Itford, and I took some video of you. " It's got to be rough to be good!"
Matthew Pepper23rd Mar 04:07: Superb effort on a superb wing... I mean, one minute you would be there, Blink and you were gone! Very nice bit of flying Mr Purdie..
Chris Townsend23rd Mar 04:45: Nice one Steve. Dave, what was it like at Swanborough for HG? Did I miss anything while stuck at work? I might go down tomorrow afternoon. Or Bo Peep if more NE than ENE.
David Williamson24th Mar 02:16: I'll put it in the Flight Diaries later today; good at times. " It's got to be rough to be good!"
Richard Chester-Nash24th Mar 06:44: ...I'd have followed when I was with you at the east end. Chances are I'd have flopped in the valley but I'd have been honoured to be in the hunt with you. Maybe a new harness would have helped though? ;o) Nice one Steve my XC head is now officially switched back on again, thanks.
David Williamson25th Mar 02:17: See Steve in action (he didn't quite make it to Acton) at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86Hqq7V2zOk " It's got to be rough to be good!"
