Flight details:
Launched at around 2pm, stunning flight, beautiful scenery, weaker lift below mountain ridge- then booming thermals to base after that, cloudbase was 8600ft amsl. Climbs in excess of 4700ft ato. I climbed the highest peak la tournette where the veiws were breath-taking, snow covered mountains as far as you can see. Once high over take-off i headed down the ridge and kept climbing back to base to try and get high enough to cross the valley, to another high peak with a cumulus above it. I lost 3000ft crossing the valley on my Java but connected with really weak thermals the other side and tried to get back cloudbase. I spent over an hour joined by two other rigid wings trying to work our way up to the peak but could only find weak lift and got about 800ft away from the snowy mountain top, i eventually headed down the valley and after landing looked back at the rigids climb out and cross over to the next valley along! moral of the story- NEVER GIVE UP! (even if you need the toilet). Awesome flight, landed after 2 hours 58 minutes. Camera switched on this time but very jumpy video as i connected it to a batten end, oops...
