Flight details: | Well, you all had the chance to go to Wales, but no, you stayed at home to fight with the crowds at the Dyke... You missed a corker. Jack Rubinstein had a personal best (45k?), as did myself, flying to England from Fforest Farm. Highlights included a low save south of Talgarth (slope-soared the mountain), another out of my 'final landing' in Wales, and the horrendous buttock-clenching glide along the coast in an invisible sea breeze front. Buttocks were firmly clenched too, as I went over the Severn... followed by various unsemly Yee-How noises as I kenew I would make it. Flight was terminated by the very large power line in my way, trying to get a low save off the English side. for a point-to point distance of about 84K, 96k via turnpoints (Once at the coast, I turned north along it to the bridges, before crossing the river). Trango XC 2 is awesome.
Special thanks to Matt Pepper, who fed me breakfast, took me to the hill, and watched his new toy disappear over the horizon. Honest, Matt, I was only going to fly it for a while - nearly 5 hours later he retrieved me, too. What a star!
PS Damn Garmin 60 stopped recording height after a hour or so - no idea why - it was still calculating glide angles the whole time, so it knew my height...Grrr. |
