Flight details: | After some windy weather here in laragne in the past 4 days only limited flying was available but yesterday looked good and so a task was set and the comp was on...
I waited for most of the competition to launch and then took of myself followed by Paul and then Dan, the initial 10 minutes were to try to not go down turning in anything that resembled a thermal just to claw my way back up to the ridge, eventually a scrappy thermal got me to ridge height and then got stronger, i left chabre and for the next 4hours just kept exploring all the other mountains, i nearly went down 22km from take off and found myself scratching again on a very rough thermal(surges of 18-up!) but managed to shoot back up, i doubled my personal best with a 60 km flight and nearly doubled my height best with 11,500ft. A perfect light wind land ended the day nicely until i realized that the super heat of laragne had bent and cracked both of my tip wands in flight so i was up untill 10pm cutting and sanding down somebodys spares just to set myself up for today- which promised to be as good as yesterday.... |
