Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
Nil wind on take off at Levente (Algodonales), blue skies and many not running hard enough on take off to only land like flies in the thick scrub below and in need of weeding. But after a long wait and with a run like crazy, I was finally airborne, over the scrub and away to connect with good thermals out front. In quick succession Baz Rhodes launched first, then Nigel Prior and I followed soon after. We climbed quite quickly, drifting over the back, Baz and Nigel climbing fast while I lost it and returned to the ridge rapidly losing height and by the time I found another climb, they had of course disappeared into the blue beyond. But my second climb was good and took where I needed to be at 2600' ato and from there I headed off in the direction of Villamartin some way to the west. Of course I didn't make it and neither did Baz and Nigel but I eventually caught sight of them on the ground quite a few hundred feet below and since it looked like the best place to land for miles around, I plonked down on a beautiful grassy green field between them. The hottest day so far, over 28 degrees and in need of re-hydration we naturally celebrated the short hop with a few thirst quenching cervesa's. After expecting nothing it turned out to be a wonderful day!
