Title: thermalling practice
Site:Devils Dyke
Pilot:Scott Dougal
Date of flight:1st June 2013
Wing type:Hang glider
Flight details:
After a week reflecting on how crap I was at thermalling last week - I tried to relax and got on a lot better - the air was good - although I was tipped vertical - or it felt that way not long after takeoff - found myself falling directly over the setup area which was eer interesting - thermals were plenty but sometimes rough - I concentrated and stuck with it getting to cloudbase a couple of time during the flight - seems obvious too but I took some other advice also during this flight and stopped myself looking at the ground - watched the clouds and flew to a few - which was great - they really do work like they say in the books - at long last it feels like I am graduating from being a ridge soaring pilot... today was really great - enjoyed it a lot... enjoyed the banter on the ground too... :-)
