Flight details: | Was busy with tandems in the morning, which were great fun, got highish on occasion. When got solo out after noon it looked like the last gasp before seabreeze was going to come through, because wind had died off. Worked little thermal rinds over east launch, went exploring west to beddingham bowl (no good), so went east over forest to trig beacon. Best part of the ridge, for sure. Hung in there for 10 minutes, then followed lift line out to big brown fields well in front of ridge. Result! Got one climb to (eventually) base, pushing into wind whenever I lost climb. Seabreeze convergence made some odd little cottonwool shapes below me on sea side. For XC I might have been able to return to caburn at that point, but Foot and Flybubble course was doable and I wanted to see what the air was like just seaside of SBF. got a lifty glide to Highover and Newhaven, then glided above non-soaring seagulls ;-) Wind shifted to SE at Saltdean so lift died. |
