The day started a bit too windy for the challenge of rigging the VR. Nic rigged and launched on his Tsunami while the rest of us watched and he soon gained some height and disappeared. Around mid-day it settled enough to rig and take off. The air was a bit rough with lots of broken and disorganised lift. It was easy enough to handle on my rigid but a bit more tiring on the flex-wings, I think. I didn't go anywhere, just enjoyed being in the air with loads of space - on my own with 8 other gliders on the ground for much of the time. It was very easy to stay up but not so easy to find sink to come down although others had found it a bit scratchy earlier on. I landed in the deep section of the hilltop just behind the east bowl where there was some convenient sink over the field behind and acres of space for the approach. I did a perfect spot landing, if I say so myself. So glad I stayed around and flew after nearly packing up and going home earlier on. |
