Flight details
Title: I thought I was laughing
Site:Newhaven Cliffs
Pilot:Andrew Craig
Date of flight:12th December 2013
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
I chickened out halfway on my first foray westwards, but next time I met Vincent coming back, and he told me he'd made it all the way to Brighton. So I screwed my courage to the sticking place and pressed on. I squeaked on to the cliff after the Saltdean gap with nothing to spare. Luckily the crane was pointing inwards, but as I neared the marina my speed crept up ominously. I thought my turn would put me down, but again I just crept back up. The crane was a close shave this time, but before Saltdean I found wonderful lift and crossed the gap comfortably. But then as the cliff rose I didn't. I'd got back up from below the top a couple of times already, but it didn't work this time, so I had a nice long walk back to the fort. On the way I saw a couple of wings go down, without disastrous consequences.
