Flight details: | It was surprisingly easy to get to Newhaven and back between 9 and 10 am. Then we were diverted for a while as the Coastguard, PCSOs, RNLI and fire brigade all helped to retrieve a pilot who'd draped himself over the cliff (the operation took a while to get going, so meanwhile Nick Jones secured the victim with his washing line -- he was just too high to be rescued with a hangie's roof rack ladder).
Meanwhile, it got weak, and some had to land out and get the bus back. Then it got strong, and a bit SSE, and the tide came in, but flying continued most of the afternoon. An unfortunate hang glider pilot hurt his arm, but was able to walk to the ambulance.
Caburn looked good as I passed it about 4.45.
