Flight details: | Very enjoyable and challenging! Left the hill on my own then decided to cross wind back to join up with Mark. Flew with him for a bit but then decided to go my own way again (should have just done so in the first place as this wasted a fair bit of time) so flew 95% of the flight on my own, again, not counting the occasional bird and sailplane. Climbs were surprisingly snotty, most probably due to multiple inversions and wind shear layers. Several other pilots commented much the same. Big gaps between thermals and lots of sink between climbs. The thermals seemed to often trying to spit you back out again, especially low down, where I found myself a few times, so you had to be assertive to stay in them. So it was 7.5 hours of having to concentrate and work hard most of the time. A completely new route for me. Fantastic fun! :) |
