Flight details: | As others found too, despite the quite chunky looking clouds, it proved quite tricky to climb. Added to that was a degree (too much?) of caution in getting too close to the clouds, especially with the forecast depth of cloud anticipated for early afternoon. So......didn't really push it to the max and left climbs a bit early I expect. With Grita marking the climb, clawed our way round the front of Newtimber then, after Grita went off exploring with a heroic but unproductive glide, worked my way along the Downs (a very low save near Plumpton where pub suck from the Half Moon nearly snaffled me), over the racecourse then down to land on the flood plain just W of Lewes for about 19km. Quite pleased with the flight - tricky at times - but felt I didn't really take the most out of what was on offer. But there's always next time........!! |
