Title: First climb out of my season
Site:Mount Caburn
Pilot:Martin Long
Date of flight:16th February 2016
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
I was frustrated to get to hill late after a wretched morning of bad paramotoring. Small gaggles were getting up and forward... Gandhi says he got as far as Rodmell. Soon after is calmed down and became lighter and more cyclic. I was on launch when the gaggle of Mark W, Vincent, et al. climbed out but managed to get a slow climb nearly to base not long afterwards with Finn. I made a couple of mistakes when leaving the climb: 1. I left too early 2. I misjudged the wind direction and headed too far North. I corrected the course but I didn't find another thermal and splashed down in the Ringmer gliding club field. It was lovely to eventually spin up after such a nasty winter and a true joy to do it on my first flight of a wing I was flying for the first time in anger. Thanks to Gandhi for the lift back!
