Title: Combe to Stoner End
Site:Combe Gibbet
Pilot:Mark Rubinstein
Date of flight:17th April 2016
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
Big Sunday at Combe and my first chance to go xc this year but light winds made it hard to get away.

First flight was 40 minutes of soaring and hunting with no escaping but the second flight saw a climb to the whispies at just over 4,500 and then I was off in a sky littered with paragliders, sailplanes and small planes.

High/Low lights included having to fight down from the freezing heights of 5,500 just before we entered the 5,500 airspace, squeaking around the Solent airspace, nearly landing at Ropley before finding a rough climb producing new noises from my vario (well, an 8 on my averager) which I escaped from well below 4,000 only to find myself drifting too far southwards and landing at Stoner End just before the drop to Petersfield (where the sun was shining). It even managed to rain a little as I packed up.

Thanks to Adam for the ride up and to Sue for the retrieves. Final highlight was stopping to offer a lift to a pilot at the side of the road only to find it was Mark Watts (with Hugh about to land) just landed from their epic flight from Hay.

99 Red balloons.
