Flight details: | Good RASP forecast, but breezy, so I headed for Liddington - my first time there. All very benign. Launch, brief pause, climb, set off down wind. A couple of good gaggles to help with the first half of the flight and good climbs to cloudbase rising to above 5,000ft as the day went on. Could be tricky lower down and I dropped off the gaggles when I had a tricky bit of (relatively speaking) scrabbling around Basingstoke. Got low again over Petersfield, but clambered back up. Steered a bit South to avoid the bit of 4,500ft airspace, then once round that worked towards the West, over Goodwood to Arundel. But, just for a change, rather than my brain flooring me, it was my bladder that had a persuasive say (must sort out the pee tube), so time to land. Let's go to the coast I thought, so flew down to Littlehampton and big-eared down. Wow! what a flight. Fabulous views, especially of the South coast, Solent, Portsmouth and Chichester harbours and all along to the Seven sisters and Beachy Head. Quite rough at times and a fair bit of traffic: paragliders aplenty of course, sailplanes, light aircraft, military stuff and a chinook thundering up behind me to pass - very safely - way below. And at the end of all of this, my first 100km!!! |
