| Flight details: | Went to collect my new wing from Simon 1st thing, his old carrera was now my new hot ship. first flight on it and i was planning to fly to Bewl water. no wind on caburn but got a climb out with Owen and Ghandi from the SE bowl. Best climb of the day to 3000ft, i carried on going and Owen went back for a top up, after lots of scrabbling around ringmer i finally got up and owen soon came in underneath. I waited for a while in zeros at around 2800ft but he was hanging onto zeros 1000ft lower. once the thermal stopped i had to continue going where the airspace really got in the way. i crept under it and just as things should have started getting easier i couldn't get back up. Owen had eventually got up and landed nr Heathfield and i landed near wadhurst. got retrieved by a lady on a quad and then Ian White kindly came to pick me up and then Owen too. brilliant first flight on the Carrera, much more performance than any glider I've had and climbs really nice although quite sporty handling. wish the season wasn't nearly over!!!!! |
