Flight details:
The dreaded school holidays were finished but would the weather play ball? In a word YES, YES, YES (well one word but 3 times, how else could I get the feeling across)!

The forecast was that it would be a bit too west and a bit too strong for a good Caburn day but I'd have walked to the top anyway just for the exercise and anyway Caburn's resident Dave (the Nickel's variety) was already halfway up and that's always a good omen. So I set off in hot pursuit with only the two of us in attendance which was more than slightly odd given the recent crap spell. I wasn't complaining though as these are the days that Dave and I have often been gifted with living locally.

Getting off while it was still possible was the plan and Dave didn't waste any time his wing coming into view as I crested the top path. Yee-hah, flyable and not too strong but westerly as forecast. Thorough checks were in order and so Dave enjoyed the freedom of the ridge for a while. Before getting airborne at about 9.30am I did my duty as self-appointed 'site reporter' and then got in the off into the invisible aether of pleasure. PS. If you read my report on the day and came because of it please post a response to this diary entry so that we can see if it's worthwhile me and others bothering in future.

We had a great time on our own for quite a while (although I am rather easily pleased as far as flying goes nowadays) before being joined by others but even then only one at a time. Dave had to be other places so left early but it stayed quite westerly and strong so the conditions weren't for everybody. I was surprised to see a gaggle with Tefal, Charlie and Franco leaving the hill later as conditions improved with nice thermals and a good sky inland but then again I wasn't in XC mode any more and others rightly were. It's a shame we didn't hear where they all got to though.

It got stronger toward midday so I landed for lunch but there was always somebody in the air so it was never completely bl
