Title: White Horse airspace dodging
Site:Milk Hill White Horse
Pilot:Dave Massie
Date of flight:13th April 2009
Wing type:Paraglider
Flight details:
Great day with lots of sailplanes out, great visability and plenty of thermals. Drift was due north and pretty significant which was a pain as it seemed I was being continually pushed towards airspace dispite crosswind glides most of the time. After cutting it fine around Lyneham had to make the decision at Swindon whether to go east or west of Brize Norton, choose East which was probably a mistake as Brize extends almost to Oxford in that direction. The next half hour was incredibly frustrating, taking decent thermals right up to the edge of Brize and significantly short of cloudbase then gliding on a SSE heading, loosing all the height and inching closer to Oxford and the freedom to head down wind. With hindsight I should have been more decisive earlier and been more aggresive pushing east. still a nice day out and we live and learn.....
