| Flight details: | Found the lift quite disorganised at Bo Peep when I got there at 10am. Carlo, Ghandi, Tefal,Simon and Ian G were all nice and high out front making it look easy.
Eventually got a decent thermal that allowed me to push out from the hill where the lift was more organised.
Climbed up under the convergence as the sea air came in and watched Carlo heading off on an XC towards Caburn.
Got to base and decided to head off too as it looked pretty pants on the hill.
Base was about 3200ft amsl in the convergence - drifted with it trying to decide which way to go.
Headed for the east side of Caburn where 2 gulls were climbing down low. They buggered off as I got to them but the climb was there as the sea air pushed up from Newhaven kicking things off.
Got to base now at 3600' and had a choice of 2 clouds - one directly west over the A27 where Carlo had climbed and one just north of Lewes.
Picked the one north of Lewes but got a bit of a drilling on the way and had to change plan and head for the front of the Downs just the other side of Lewes.
A bird marked a climb for me as I got down to about 300' agl and it was all going very smoothly til I hit the sea air at about 1200' and my glider tried to turn itself inside out.
Had a fairly bumpy climb up in the convergence in front of the downs but got to the 3000' and then decided to push on as we were below the 3500ft ceiling and the sea air was pushing in fast cutting off our route East past Gatwick airspace.
Flew dolphin style under the convergence trying to catch Carlo but eventually got forced under the 2500' ceiling.
Saw Carlo land the other side of the A23 just passed Hickstead Showgrounds.
Got another climb over the A23 and topped enough to make it over to Carlo's field as I didn't think I could've got a lot further and there was more chance of a retrieve if we were together...
Tefal very kindly took the time to drive over and pick us up earning him many karma retrieve points - cheers mate, owe you one !
