What’s inside
A growing library the coaching team keep stocked — talks, drills, exam practice, the books worth reading and watch-and-learn video. It’s one of the ways the club helps new pilots find their feet and good pilots get better.
Lectures
Talks and presentations from club evenings and beyond.
Lessons
Structured material for working on specific skills.
Tests
Exam practice and self-assessment for ratings.
Books
Reading the coaches rate — theory, weather, airmanship.
Videos
Watch-and-learn, from ground handling to XC.
Guidance
Club and BHPA guidance documents.
Led by the club’s coaches
The material comes from the people who fly our hills — pilot lectures from Chief Coach John Turczak, lessons from Greg Hamerton, and the Red Ribbon Club run by club coach Robin Fitzgerald and our BHPA-rated volunteers. All unpaid, all keen to pass it on.
And once you’ve joined, there’s Tasks to improve your flying— the club’s coaching tick-list you can work through and track, weekend by weekend.
