The waypoints
● take-off sites · ● waypoints. Tap any point for its name. Each waypoint is “tagged” by flying a GPS track point through its 100 m cylinder.
Eligibility
- Be a paid-up member of SHGC.
- Have a CP rating or above.
- Hold current BHPA membership.
- You must be qualified to fly a site under the site rules to score waypoints from a take-off there.
- Respect all airspace. Flights are checked and will be deleted if an infringement occurs.
- All waypoints are open to every pilot rating. CP-rated pilots must follow current BHPA guidelines and restrictions on cross-country flying — responsibility for judging whether a given waypoint is appropriate to attempt rests with the individual pilot.
Scoring
- All waypoint circles have a radius of 100 metres.
- 1 point is scored for every waypoint bagged — maximum 81 in each prize category.
- Most waypoints over the season — each waypoint counts once per pilot across all your flights.
- Most waypoints in one flight — each waypoint counts once per flight.
- To score, a flight must take off from a designated SHGC take-off site and have a GPS track point inside each waypoint circle claimed.
- In the event of a tie for first place, the winner is the pilot who achieves their total in the shortest time.
- All IGC files are accepted — no security signature or G record required.
Members: after you land, upload your IGC file in the logbook — scoring is automatic, and your waypoints appear on the standings. Get the waypoint files for your instrument on the waypoints & GPS setup page.
