The Southern Hang Gliding Club is run entirely by an elected volunteer committee, accountable to the members at the Annual General Meeting. No one is paid: every penny of membership and other income goes straight back into the club and the flying sites we all depend on.
Committee roles
These are the standard roles the committee covers. The same people often wear more than one hat, and other members pitch in throughout the year.
- Chair — Leads the committee and represents the club.
- Secretary — Runs meetings, records, and club correspondence.
- Treasurer — Looks after the club’s finances and accounts.
- Membership Secretary — Handles joining, renewals and the membership records.
- Sites Officer — Maintains relationships with landowners and keeps our sites open.
- Safety Officer — Oversees safety, airmanship and incident follow-up.
- Coaching — Coordinates club coaches and pilot progression.
- Social Secretary — Organises club socials and events.
- Windsock Editor — Produces the club’s Windsock magazine.
AGM minutes & reports
The club is accountable to its members at the Annual General Meeting each spring. Past AGM minutes and officers’ reports are kept for members in the member area.
