Who we are
This website is operated by the Southern Hang Gliding Club (“SHGC”, “the club”, “we”), a BHPA-affiliated, not-for-profit flying club. Contact: secretary@shgc.org.uk, 10 Mill Road, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 2RU.
These terms govern your use of the site. Some areas are open to the public; others are for signed-in members only. Our use of your data is covered by our Privacy & your data notice, and the flying information on the site is subject to our flying & information disclaimer.
Your account
Member areas require you to sign in. You are responsible for keeping your access to your email and account secure, for the accuracy of the details you give us, and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed by someone else. Accounts and member access are personal to you and must not be shared.
Acceptable use
- Use the site lawfully, and don’t use it in any way that harms the club, its members or others.
- Don’t misuse other members’ information. Details in the member directory and contact features are provided for genuine club purposes only — not for marketing, harvesting or passing on to third parties.
- Keep restricted information restricted — for example site gate codes and access arrangements must not be shared with non-members.
- Don’t attempt to break, probe, scrape, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its data.
- Don’t upload anything unlawful, offensive, or that infringes someone else’s rights, and make sure information you submit (including flight data and emergency contacts) is accurate and shared with permission.
We may suspend or withdraw access if these terms are breached.
Content & intellectual property
The site, its design and its content (other than content you or other members contribute, and third-party material used under licence) belong to the club or its licensors. You may use the site for your own club and personal use; you may not republish or reuse it commercially without permission. When you contribute content (such as flight logs, photos or posts), you keep your rights in it but grant the club a licence to host and display it on the platform for club purposes.
Availability & changes
We provide the site on a reasonable-efforts basis and “as is”. We don’t guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend or withdraw features. The site links to and relies on third-party services (for example maps and weather); we’re not responsible for their content or availability.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the club is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, or from reliance on its information. In particular, all flying-related information is guidance only and subject to our disclaimer. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under English law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence).
Changes to these terms & governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page applies to your use of the site. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Questions? secretary@shgc.org.uk.
